The Covanro – Katunayake

The Covanro is a boutique hotel located near Sri Lanka’s west coast. Its location 15 minutes north-east of Colombo International Airport makes it a convenient location for those who don’t enjoy a long trek as the first step of their holiday. It also means it’s close enough to both city and nature to enjoy both.

On the outside, The Covanro has a modern architectural style with clean lines. The rooms and suites continue this clear design choice. The rooms are decorated in neutral tones with splashes of colour in the upholstery, modern art and dark wood furniture.

The rooms offer air conditioning and there are conference facilities available. Once work is done, then you could go to eat at the restaurant, grab a snack and a quick drink at the bar, or get a coffee at one of the two cafés. There’s also a gym onsite along with a pool, including one for children.

Within a 30 – 45 minute drive, you can find Buddhist temples, parks and waterfalls. The national parks down the spine of Sri Lanka are further afield with the Sri Pada Wilderness Sanctuary about a one hour and 45 minute drive away. Once you get there, though, the Upper Gattmore Falls are a photographer’s dream.
